Seven-run rally lifts Jimmies to win over Midland

Game 1:
Jamestown trailed 4-0 before getting its first baserunner of the game after Mackenzie Lefebvre singled to start the fifth. It was just one of three hits for the Jimmies, who also got a sixth-inning single by Samarah Martinez and a leadoff double by Lefebvre in the seventh.

Sunny Halsey (6-11) struck out nine batters and pitched a complete game.

Game 2:
The Jimmies rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the sixth inning, scoring seven runs for a 9-5 win.

Megan Neiles scored on a wild pitch in the second inning for UJ's first run, cutting Midland's lead to 2-1. The Warriors extended their advantage with one run in the third and two more in the fifth to make it 5-1.

Maddie Spaeth reached on a fielder's choice to allow Angie Chin to come home with UJ's second run in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on the corners and just one out, Jamestown was unable to get any more runs across and the score remained 5-2.

Four of the Jimmies' seven runs in the sixth came with two outs, three of them coming on a bases-clearing double by Mackenzie Lefebvre. UJ had pulled within one run on a pinch-hit single by Kayla Quintanilla, and Reece Floyd tied the game with a two-run single after Sunny Halsey reached on an error to load the bases.

After Lefebvre's go-ahead double, Ally Battistoni doubled to drive in pinch-runner Sidnie Aasen for an insurance run that made it 9-5.

Hailey Schaefer (6-2), who came on with two outs and a runner on third in the top of the sixth, struck out two of the three Warrior hitters in the seventh to get the win.

Jamestown finished with 10 hits in the game, including two each by Lefebvre and Megan Neiles. Neiles had a double down the left field line in the second and joined Angie Chin with two runs scored.

Next Up:
The Jimmies (22-18, 9-9 GPAC) will host Dordt (Iowa) University on Thursday at 12 p.m. in Aberdeen, S.D., due to the potential of inclement weather in Jamestown.
