Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. -- Sunny Halsey allowed no earned runs and three hits over seven innings, and Ally Battistoni broke a scoreless tie with a two-run single in the fifth as the Jimmie softball team defeated St. Francis (Ill.) 3-1 Sunday morning at the Tucson Invitational Games.
Halsey and St. Francis starter Hannah Vachon each held the opposition scoreless until Jamestown broke through in the fifth.
With Sonya Rodgers on second and Gentrey Turin on first following a walk, Maddie Spaeth singled to load the bases. With two outs, Battistoni came through with a single to right, allowing Rodgers and Turin to score to make it 2-0.
Mackenzie Lefebvre homered to left field leading off the bottom of the sixth, extending UJ's lead to 3-0.
St. Francis scored their lone run with a two-out single in the top of the seventh, but Halsey struck out the final batter to complete the win.
Halsey (2-3) finished with five strikeouts and walked just one in her second complete game of the season. Spaeth and Battistoni both had two hits to lead Jamestown. Rodgers, Trinity Gregg, and Samarah Martinez each had doubles.
Jamestown (5-6) takes on No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan at 10 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a 12 p.m. game against Siena Heights (Mich.)
