FREMONT, Neb.—The 11th-ranked University of Jamestown women's hockey team played their first road game of the season Thursday evening, losing to No. 2 Midland University 3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite being outshot 12-2 in the first period, the Jimmies only trailed 1-0 at the intermission, with the Warriors getting a goal from Kamryn Hayhurst at the 13:17 mark.
- Midland extended their lead to 2-0 with Callie Maguire's goal at 15:18 of the second period.
- UJ had their first power play opportunity just 18 seconds after the Warriors' goal, and were successful. Bethany Wielgosh scored eight seconds into the power play to make it 2-1. Jaeda Clayton got the assist.
- Brynn Tosh added an insurance goal at 5:04 of the third period to give Midland another two-goal lead.
- The Jimmies pulled Drew for an extra skater at the 18:45 mark, and the Warriors' Rylee Martin potted an empty-net goal with 57 seconds left to make it 4-1.
FOR THE JIMMIES
- Lilah Drew stopped 40 shots in defeat.
- Jamestown was 1-for-1 on the power play while Midland was 0-for-2.
