Kiran Vugteveen set a new single-game record with four goals as the 11th-ranked University of Jamestown women's hockey team was victorious in its home opener Friday evening, defeating the University of Colorado 6-1 at John L. Wilson Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Jimmies had an 18-4 edge in shots during the first period, but Vugteveen's goal at 8:43 was the only scoring in the opening 20 minutes.
• Jamestown broke the game open in the second period, scoring four times in 1:48.
• Vugteveen had UJ's lone power-play goal of the night, which made it 2-0 at the 10:32 mark.
• Jaeda Clayton lit the lamp 31 seconds later as the lead grew to 3-0.
• Vugteveen notched the hat trick at 11:20, and one minute later, Bethany Wielgosh had Jamestown's fifth of the game.
• Vugteveen finished off the Jimmies' scoring at 4:10 of the third period and ended the night with the third hat trick in program history.
• Mia Fiscelli's shorthanded goal at 17:06 ended UJ's shutout hopes.

FOR THE JIMMIES

• Lilah Drew made 23 saves in goal.
• Mackenzie Couling had three assists while Annika Braun added two.
• Sam Beaulac, Gaby Schroder, and Crystal Wale also were credited with assists.
• Jamestown outshot Colorado 50-24 and held the Buffaloes to 0-for-6 on the power play.
