Box Score 2 Jenna Remenar (FR/Vancouver, Wash.)'s two-out, two-run walkoff home run in the bottom of the seventh gave the University of Jamestown softball team a 3-1 win over Concordia (Neb.) University Wednesday afternoon at Trapper Field.
Concordia came back in game two with a 4-2 win to salvage a split of the conference series. Jamestown is back in action Friday at Doane (Neb.) University.
Santina Zito (SO/Boise, Idaho) singled to lead off the bottom of the seventh and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Katie Reisdorfer (JR/Fresno, Calif.). After a groundout for the second out of the inning, Remenar connected on the first pitch from Camry Moore and deposited it over the left-field fence for a 3-1 win.
UJ led 1-0 in the third after a single by Kassi Ward (JR/Olympia, Wash.) scored Megan Neiles (FR/Winnipeg, MB). The Bulldogs responded with a run in the top of the fourth to tie the game, and neither team was able to score until Remenar's game-winning home run.
Kat Miska (JR/Pequot Lakes, Minn.) (13-2) went the distance for the Jimmies, allowing one run on three hits, striking out seven and walking three. Remenar and Morgan Geiszler (JR/Horace, N.D.) each had a pair of hits, with Geiszler doubling twice.
In game two, the Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead after the first, but Jamestown tied the game in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Gracie Fisher (FR/Bemidji, Minn.).
Concordia scored once in the third and added two more in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead. Sydney Prussia (JR/Detroit Lakes, Minn.)'s single in the bottom of the fifth scored Geiszler to cut the the lead to 4-2, and the Jimmies had a runner at third with two outs, but Bulldog first baseman Julia Van Wey made the defensive play of the game by snaring a line drive by Zito that was headed for the right field corner.
Prussia and Fisher both had two hits for Jamestown. Katie Merchant (SO/South Haven, Minn.) (10-5) took the loss, giving up four runs (three earned) on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. Lucy Sinkkonen (FR/Cloquet, Minn.) scattered three hits over 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
