Box Score 3 TUCSON, Ariz.-- The University of Jamestown softball team managed just six runs in a pair of losses Tuesday, falling 7-3 to Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) and 10-3 to Texas Wesleyan University at the Tucson Invitational Games.
Jamestown led Embry-Riddle 2-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth on RBI singles by Santina Zito (SO/Boise, Idaho) and Mikayla Frost (SR/Melba, Idaho).
Embry-Riddle scored six times in the bottom half for a 7-2 lead.
Zito's double in the top of the seventh scored Kassi Ward (JR/Olympia, Wash.) to make it 7-3. Zito finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate.
Ward, Mariah Martinez (SO/Visalia, Calif.), Katie Reisdorfer (JR/Fresno, Calif.), Morgan Geiszler (JR/Horace, N.D.), and Mariah Wick (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) also had hits for the Jimmies.
Another six-run inning doomed UJ in their 10-3 loss to Texas Wesleyan.
Trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Geiszler singled home the Jimmie's first run, then Lauren Diemert (FR/West Fargo, N.D.) reached on an error, allowing Zito to score to make it 4-2.
The score stayed 4-2 until the top of the sixth when the Rams erupted for six runs to make it 10-2.
Hailey Sandoval (SR/Lake Stevens, Wash.) drove in a run in the bottom of the siixth making it 10-3, but Jamestown was unable to put any more runs on the board.
Geiszler's three hits led the Jimmies.
UJ (8-5) plays three games on Wednesday, taking on Aquinas (Mich.) at 11:00 AM, Mayville State (N.D.) at 1 PM, and Aquinas again at 5:30 PM.
