JAMESTOWN-- The 15th-ranked University of Jamestown softball team will conclude the regular season this weekend with a pair of North Star Athletic Association conference games against Dakota State (S.D.) and Viterbo (Wis.), in Madison, S.D.
Friday, the Jimmies square off against Dakota State with a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m. UJ and Viterbo will play a pair on Saturday, with a start time of 12:00 p.m. Live stats of all four games are available at http://www.dakstats.com/WebSync/Pages/Tournament/TournamentPage.aspx?association=10&sg=WBA&tour=2475
Jamestown (35-6 overall, 18-3 NSAA) is looking to win the regular season conference championship and the top seed for the NSAA conference tournament May 4-8 in Aberdeen, S.D. UJ is two games ahead of Valley City State (N.D.), who enter the weekend with a conference record of 16-5.
The Jimmies' magic number for clinching the conference is three, meaning any combination of three Jimmie wins or Viking losses would seal the deal.
UJ and Dakota State (18-25, 12-12 NSAA) have met three times in 2018, with the Jimmies winning all three contests by scores of 10-9, 3-1, and 9-2.
Viterbo (10-27, 6-17) awaits Jamestown on Saturday. The Jimmies swept the V-Hawks on April 7 at the PC Dome in Aberdeen, 5-2 and 8-0.
MILESTONE WATCH: Emma Keller (SR/Poulsbo, WA) has moved up the all-team leaders list in several categories this season. Entering the weekend, Keller ranks second in walks (51), third in games played (179), third in runs scored (156), fifth in hits (193), fifth in triples (9), eighth in doubles (38), eighth in home runs (15), and 10th in runs batted in (95). Among single-season records, Keller's five triples are tied for second.
Brittany Rheault (SR/West Fargo, ND) became the Jimmies' career leader in wins and now has 59 and counting. Her 44 complete games are second-most, as are her 527 1/3 innings pitched and 482 strikeouts.
