TUCSON, Ariz.-- The University of Jamestown softball team had the bats booming on Monday, totalling 26 runs and 33 hits in wins over Park (Mo.) and Robert Morris (Ill.)
Jamestown racked up 19 hits in a 16-6, six-inning win against Park. The Pirates scored six runs in the bottom of the second to go ahead 6-2. The Jimmies came back with 14 unanswered runs over the final three innings to end the game via the eight-run rule.
Tifani Schorzman (SR/Coeur d'Alene, ID) was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and a pair of RBI. She also doubled three times. Emma Keller (SR/Poulsbo, WA) and Allie McCain (JR/Duvall, WA) recorded three hits. McCain finished with three RBI while Mikayla Frost (SO/Melba, ID), Kassi Ward (FR/Olympia, WA), and Morgan Geiszler (FR/Horace, ND) all had two hits and drove in two runs each.
Kat Miska (SO/Pequot Lakes, MN) (3-0) tossed a complete game in her first start of the season. She allowed one earned run on five hits and recorded five strikeouts.
UJ kept the offense going with 14 more hits in a 10-4 win over Robert Morris. The Jimmies scored in five of seven innings, including three runs in both the first and fourth innings.
Meghan Ramage (JR/Grand Forks, ND) was 4-for-4 and drove in three runs. Emma Keller and Mikayla Frost had two hits. Morgan Geiszler tripled while Kassi Ward, Tifani Schorzman, Samm Hamilton (SO/Boise, ID), Miriah Yoder (JR/Devils Lake, ND), and Kaitlyn Sassaman (SO/Ronan, MT) also had hits.
Brittany Rheault (SR/West Fargo, ND) pitched 4 1/3 innings for the win, improving to 5-2 on the year. Jasmine Pipella (FR/Boissevain, MB) worked the remaining 2 2/3 innings for her third save.
The Jimmies, now 16-3 and 5-1 in Tucson, play Dordt (Iowa) College Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. CDT.
