The University of Jamestown women's cross country team finished eighth out of 12 teams Saturday at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships. The meet was hosted by Midland (Neb.) University at North Bend Golf Course in North Bend, Neb.

Dordt (Iowa) College was the top team, finishing with 45 points. Hastings (Neb.) was second with 68 points, and Northwestern (Iowa) was third with 69. The Jimmies' 237 points was one better than ninth-place Doane (Neb.), and 16 points in back of Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.)

The Defenders earn an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on November 16.

Allie Foster (SR/Rugby, N.D.) was the top Jimmie runner, finishing 28th in a time of 20:08.25.
