SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Jamestown women's cross country team kicked off their 2025 season at the highly competitive Augustana Twilight Meet on Friday evening. The Jimmies placed seventh out of 26 teams, finishing with a team score of 230.
Freshman
Lydia Franson was the top finisher for Jamestown, placing an impressive 11th out of 319 runners in the 5000-meter race, with a time of 17:41.49. Fellow freshman
Hallie Person also had a strong debut, finishing 37th with a time of 18:33.24.
Other scoring runners for the Jimmies included sophomore
Lilly Petty (66th, 19:04.90), sophomore
Allyson Goodmanson (90th, 19:26.26), and freshman
Kari Patterson (95th, 19:30.24). Six Jimmies set new lifetime bests on Friday, with Stark (1:25.46) and Petty (1:07.20) beating their previous top times by over a minute each.
The individual winner of the race was Ashlyn Hillyard of South Dakota State, who finished with a time of 17:04.27. South Dakota State also claimed the team title with a score of 20.
Next up for the Jimmies is the Blue Hawk Invitational in Medora, N.D., on September 20.
