The win was the second against the Vikings in the postseason and ninth in a row against all opponents. UJ improves to 39-18 while Valley City State's season ends at 21-31.
UJ scored the game's first run in the bottom of the third. With one out, Kylie Macaig (SO/Airdrie, AB) singled, then stole second, and came around on Emma Keller (JR/Poulsbo, WA)'s single to make it 1-0. Tifani Schorzman (JR/Coeur d'Alene, ID) drove in Jamestown's second run with a sacrifice fly to right field for the second run of the inning.
Linda Ontiveros (SR/Yuma, AZ) singled to lead off the fourth inning and was replaced by pinch-runner Chelsey Wolf (FR/Wapella, SK). Dunnigan singled to put runners at first and second, then both runners moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Macaig. A sacrifice fly by Keller scored Wolf to make it 3-0.
Jamestown's final two runs came in the bottom of the sixth. Dunnigan laced a one-out double and scored on Macaig's triple. Macaig would later score on an error for the fifth and final run.
Macaig and Dunnigan both had two hits while Keller, Ontiveros, and Mikayla Frost (FR/Melba, ID) had the other hits. Frost's hit was her 86th of the season, tying her with Kelli Duvall (2003) for the most hits by a Jimmie in one season.
Kadie Anderson, Kelsey Hamade, Kelli Moore and Tatum Lundin had the Vikings' hits.
Dunnigan struck out nine in earning her 19th win and 10th shutout of the season. The 19 wins ties Brittany Rheault (JR/West Fargo, ND) (2015) for second-most in a season, and her 10th shutout breaks the previous record of nine set by Kristin Tintzman in 2003.
Taking the loss for VCSU was Morgan Nalley, who worked six innings and gave up five runs, three earned, on seven hits. She struck out four and walked three.
