Jimmies use dominant pitching to sweep Saints

ABERDEEN, S.D.-- Miriah Yoder (SO/Devils Lake, ND) and Brittany Rheault (JR/West Fargo, ND) each had three hits and Hanna Dunnigan (SR/Regina, SK) pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out 11, as the Jimmies defeated Presentation (S.D.) College 8-0 in the first game of Friday's doubleheader.

Jamestown led 1-0 after two, then added three runs on two hits and a Saints error to extend their lead to 4-0.

Rheault singled in Yoder in the fourth to make it 5-0. UJ tacked on three more runs in the sixth on a groundout from Emma Gilbert (FR/Kelowna, BC), a Mikayla Frost (FR/Melba, ID) single, and another Presenation error.

Dunnigan gave up two singles and a double over the first three innings, then allowed just one hitter to reach over the final three innings. She improved her record to 11-5 and pitched her 12th complete game and seventh shutout of the season.

Other Jimmies who recorded hits included Kylie Macaig (SO/Airdrie, AB), Emma Keller (JR/Poulsbo, WA), and Dunnigan. Jamestown, which entered Friday's doubleheader ranked fifth in the NAIA with 393 hits, posted its 25th game with 10 or more hits this season.

In game two, Brittany Rheault pitched a one-hitter as Jamestown completed the sweep with a 2-1 victory.

Rheault retired 13 straight hitters before hitting Celia Cerezo with one out in the fifth. After Jaycee Herman struck out, Darrian Gibson doubled to score Cerezo, ending the no-hitter and the shutout.

Jamestown took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth after Samm Hamilton (FR/Boise, ID) reached on an error with two out. Kaitlyn Sassaman (FR/Ronan, MT) then followed up with a double to score pinch-runner Katlyn Buether.

Hanna Dunnigan had a clutch two-out double to score Kylie Macaig with the go-ahead run and eventual winning run.

Rheault (9-4) pitched her third complete game of the season, striking out six.

Dunnigan and Sassaman each had two hits and Kelly Halverson (SO/Surrey, BC) accounted for the Jimmies' fifth hit.
