ABERDEEN, S.D.-- The Jimmie softball team lost 2-1 in the semifinals of Bracket B in the North Star Athletic Association conference tournament, as the Valley City State Vikings scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Jamestown (33-14) will face Waldorf (18-28) in a loser-out game at 12 pm Saturday.
Autumn Wang (SR/Devils Lake, ND) walked to lead off the fourth for UJ. Linda Ontiveros (JR/Yuma, AZ) sacrificed Wang to second, and after advancing to third on an error, Wang scored on a single by Rylee Perez (SR/Indio, CA).
The Vikings tied the game in the bottom of the fifth on a Jimmie error.
In the bottom of the seventh, Katarina Boychuk led off with a single and stole second base. Kelsey Hamade singled to put runners on the corners and later advanced to second. Katie Cameron hit a comebacker to the pitcher but Boychuk was safe at home for the winning run.
Emma Keller (SO/Poulsbo, WA) and Perez had two hits to lead the Jimmies. Emily Newman (SR/Victoria, BC, Canada), Hanna Dunnigan (JR/Regina, SK, Canada), and Wang also recorded hits.
Dunnigan was the losing pitcher for Jamestown. She allowed two runs, one unearned, on eight hits and struck out two.
