Three Jimmie women's wrestlers won their individual weight classes and a total of eight UJ competitors finished in the top four at the Lady Warrior Open in Fremont, Neb., Saturday.
Liliana Cortes (FR) (109), Dajan Treder (SR) (116), and Dejshane White (FR) (170) took top honors for Jamestown.
Kim Cardenas (SR) (101) and Alyssa Schrull (FR) (170) were second in their respective divisions.
Taking third were Elisabeth Galvez (SO) (109) and Cara Romeike (SO) (136). Joy Muniz (SO) (143) and Myranda Velazquez (SO) (170) ended fourth.
Cortes was a winner by decision in her three bouts, defeating Valeria Rivera of Ottawa University 4-2 in the final.
Treder pinned Makayla Grimm of Eastern Oregon in her semifinal match, and won her other three matches, including the championship against Oklahoma City's Cassidy Jesperson, by technical fall, to finish 4-0 on the day.
White pinned all three of her opponents, including teammate Schrull in the championship, in 1:42 or less.
Cardenas had only two contested matches on Saturday, defeating Midland's Elysha Foster by technical fall, then losing by technical fall to Maria Ahumada of Missouri Baptist.
Schrull won by technical fall and decision before losing to White in the 170 final.
Galvez lost her first match in a 12-7 decision but rallied to pin her next three opponents. Romeike finished with 3 wins in 4 matches including pinfalls in the consolation semifinals and third-place match.
Muniz had five matches on Saturday, winning three. She was pinned in the semifinals by Maggie Douma of Oklahoma City, but came back through the consolation bracket, losing a tough 9-7 decison to Ottawa's Addie Lanning. Velazquez won her quarterfinal match against OCU's Jackie Quinones before being decisioned 8-3 by Schrull. Like Muniz and Romeike, Velazquez won a consolation semifinal to make the third-place match.
In the 101 division, Trang Phan (FR) was 1-2.
At 116, Haley Hedgecock (JR) was 2-2, including a pin of Waldorf's Jasmine Alexander.
Trica Martin (SR) lost her opening match but rallied for three straight victories and ended 3-2 at 123.
Also at 123, Grecia Monasterio won her first two matches and finished 2-2.
Chelsea Dionisio was 3-2 with two pins at 130. Also earning pins at 130 were Caitlyn Kaz (SO) (1-2), Alyssa Wilhite (FR) (1-2) and Josselyn Pacheco (SO) (1-2).
Daisy Chavez (FR) found the win column in her first match at 136 and finished 1-2.
Pam Fehr and Stephanie Monasterio, competing at 143, finished 1-2.
Three freshmen, Jessalyn Spooner (FR) (143), Mayra Escalante (FR) (170), and Sarah Moore (FR) (191) saw their first collegiate action as well.
The Jimmies will host the Can/Am Open on November 5 beginning at 9 a.m.
