In Madison, SD, the Jimmies improved to 6-3 NSAA with a 3-1 win over Dakota State in Game 1.
Dakota State dropped to 4-5 NSAA.
Courtney Van den Bussche was a big part of the Jimmie offense.
The UJ leadoff hitter started the game with a bunt single as the Jimmie offense plated two runs in the first.
Emily Newman and Hanna Dunnigan had back to back triples for UJ in that initial frame.
Van den Bussche would also score in the 7th as she was hit by pitch, stole second, and eventually scored on an RBI groundout by Hattie Fullmer.
Mandy Thiessen handcuffed the Trojans - until the 7th, when Dakota State had three of their five hits and mounted a rally.
However, the rally only plated one run as runners were left on first and second, and Thiessen improved to 5-0 on the season.
She struck out 9 Dakota State batters.

The Jimmies swept the NSAA conference doubleheader in Madison, SD, with a 5-0 win in Game 2.
Jimmie pitchers Hanna Dunnigan and Emily Snow combined on a shutout of the Trojans.
Dunnigan threw the first five innings to record the win, her sixth of the season, and Snow threw the last two innings to record her first save.
Dunnigan allowed 4 hits and had 3 K, while Snow allowed zero hits and struck out one.
Emily Newman, Tylynn McKeever, and Brook Rheault each had two hits for the Jimmies.
Newman had a triple and scored two runs, while McKeever had a double with an RBI and a run.
Jamestown is now 18-16 on the season (7-3 NSAA), while Dakota State falls to 9-25 (4-6 NSAA).
Jamestown will host MSU Moorhead Monday in Jamestown - at Noon.
