Jamestown Wrestlers in North Regional Qualifier

12 Jimmie Wrestlers will be competing this weekend at our North Region National Qualifying Tournament at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD.

The top four wrestlers from each weight class will receive an automatic qualification to the NAIA National Wrestling Tournament, which will be held in Topeka, KS on March 7th and 8th.

The 12 wrestlers who will be representing Jimmie Wrestling at this weekend's North Region Qualifying Group Tournament are:

  1. 125 lb. Andre Aguinaga: Andre is a freshman from Pocatello, ID. He was a 2012 Idaho state finalist and currently holds a record of 21-17
  2. 141 lb. Eddy Wilson: Eddie is a sophomore from Klein, TX. He and was a 2012 Texas state qualifier and currently holds a record of 18-18
  3. 149 lb. Dillon Kifer: Dillon Kifer is a sophomore from Little Falls, MN. He was a 2012 Minnesota state placer and currently holds a record of 18-8. Dillon is currently ranked 5th in the region. He was a regional finalist and an NAIA national qualifier at 141 lbs. last season.
  4. 149 lb. Dillon Beeler: Dillon Beeler is a freshman from Glendive, MT. He was a 2013 Montana state champion and currently holds a record of 7-7.
  5. 157 lb. Tyler Schnaubert: Tyler is a junior from Hobbs, NM. He was a New Mexico state placer and currently holds a record of 13-21.
  6. 157 lb. Zach Pickering: Zach is a junior from Pinehurst, ID. He was an Idaho state placer and currently holds a record of 11-13.
  7. 165 lb. Pat Nord: Pat is a senior from Enderlin, ND. He was a 4X North Dakota state placer and a 2X state finalist. He currently holds a record of 23-6. Pat is currently ranked 3rd in the region and 8th in the country. He was a 2012 Regional Champion and 3rd place NAIA All-American.
  8. 165 lb. Julian Gallegos: Julian is a freshman from American Falls, ID. He was a 2013 Idaho state champion and currently holds a record of 20-16.
  9. 174 lb. Jaykob Miller: Jaykob is a senior from Etiwanda, CA. He was a California state qualifier and currently holds a record of 25-14. Jaykob is currently ranked 6th in the region. He placed 5th at regionals last year and was an NAIA national qualifier.
  10. 197 lb. Demetreus Roby: Demetreus is a freshman from Minot, ND. He was a 2X North Dakota state placer and a 2012 state finalist and currently holds a record of 8-9.
  11. 285 lb. Antonio Lopez: Antonio is a junior from Paramount, CA. He was a California state qualifier and currently holds a record of 16-10. Antonio was an NAIA National Qualifier last season.
  12. 285 lb. Alejandro Ruelas: Alejandro is a freshman from Westminster, CA. He was a California state qualifier and currently holds a record of 11-9.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – (Group Qualifier Schedule/Results) The 2014 NAIA Qualifying Group Tournaments open action at four host sites across the country on Saturday. The top four finishers in each of the group's 10 respective weight classes receive an automatic berth to the 57th annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships in Topeka, Kan., March 7 – 8. The official list of national championship qualifiers will be announced on Feb. 27.

• The North Group has five teams currently ranked in the NAIA Wrestling Coaches' Top 20 Poll – No. 10 Morningside (Iowa), No. 11 York (Neb.), No. 16 Dickinson State (N.D.), No. 19 Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) and No. 19 Midland (Neb.).
• Last season, Dickinson State had six individual weight class winners – Bryden Lazaro (125), Brad Steele (141), Sean Elkins (149), Tyler Johnson (157), Cameron Schrempp (174) and Jose Lopez (285) – propelling the Blue Hawks to 153.5 points and the North Qualifier team title.
• The North Qualifying Group is the only one of the four to not have a No. 1 ranked individual nationally.
• Morningside, who secured a fourth-straight outright Great Plains Athletic Conference title with a 27-13 win against Midland on Feb. 14, enters Saturday as arguably the favorite to win the team title. The Mustangs boast eight nationally ranked grapplers, including three top five individuals in Tyler Lashbrook (149), Joseph Sievert (174) and Tyler Kacmarynski (285). Morningside finished the 2013-14 campaign with a 12-6 record.
