The Jamestown College softball team finally got a chance to take the field after two straight days of rain washed out the season opener in Tucson, AZ but the wait was worth it.
For the Jimmies, the wait was worth it as they opened up with three wins on the day defeating Purdue-North Central (8-0), Viterbo University (8-4), and Aquinas University (9-7) in 8 innings.

For the Jimmies, the wait was worth it as they opened up with three wins on the day defeating Purdue-North Central (8-0), Viterbo University (8-4), and Aquinas University (9-7) in 8 innings.
The day started and ended with the Jimmies going deep. In game one, the Jimmies scored three runs in the first inning thanks to a two-run home run by junior left fielder, Sarah Heinemann and ended game three with a walk-off three-run home run by junior shortstop, Amy Shadinger.
The Jimmies also received three strong pitching performances by juniors Kate Street and Chelsea Blackman, along with sophomore, Jessica Lees. In game one, Kate Street threw a two-hit shut out in a shortened five inning game. Game two saw Blackman go the distance in a 8-4 victory over Viterbo. Game three was starter Jessica Lees going a strong five and a third innings, then giving way to Steet to pick up her second victory on the day.
The Jimmies continue their spring trip tomorrow with a full slate of games starting at 2 pm against Trinity International, then moving on to play Robert Morris(IL) and Mount Marty (SD) at 6 and 8pm.
Overall the Jimmies are (3-0)
