Jamestown, N.D. – The University of Jamestown women's soccer team will look for their first home win on Sunday as they host the St. Cloud State Huskies.

The Teams
The Jimmies will enter the noon contest on Sunday vs. SCSU with an overall record of 1-4-1 and a 1-2-0 mark in the conference with Jamestown coming off a loss to No. 5 Minnesota State University on Friday. UJ went into halftime with the score tied at 0-0 against one of the best teams in Division-II women's soccer, but the Mavericks got two scores early in the second half and the Jimmies could not find a response as they fell 2-0 in their home opener. Total shots were 17-4 Mavericks and 9-0 shots on net.
Taylor Musser made seven saves for Jamestown.
Both
Bre Oettle and
Julliet Lopez each have two goals as the top offensive performers for UJ.
Gaby Lopez and
Bailey Fox have one assist each. Musser, the primary goaltender, is still looking for her first win of the season with the freshman holding a 2.45 goals-against average and a .744 save percentage.
The St. Cloud State Huskies come into Sunday's matchup with a 2-2-2 overall record and 1-1-1 in conference play which puts them in a tie with three other teams for sixth place. So far in the NSIC, the Huskies tied the University of Mary, blanked Minot State University 1-0, then in their last game lost 2-0 to Northern State University. Against the Wolves, Linsey Trapino led all SCSU players with two shots on goal. Jaylee Strickland and Zoe Fujino both played one half in net with each allowing one goal, Strickland posting one stop and Fujino three. NSU had a 6-4 edge in shots on goal while St. Cloud State had slightly more corner kicks at 5-3.
Through six games so far this season, the Huskies have been a bit down from last year in which they went 16-3-5 and 11-1-3 in NSIC action during the 2025 season. The Huskies finished in a tie for second place in the conference and made it to the NSIC tournament championship. SCSU earned an at-large berth into the National Tournament as the three-seed in the Central Region. The Huskies beat Pittsburg State University, then the University of Central Missouri, then fell to Washburn University in the Sweet 16 and Central Region Championship game.
Under first year head coach Maggie Sherman, Laney Haviland has been the front piece to the Huskies offense with the sophomore midfielder third in the NSIC with four goals as well as eight points. Haviland had both the game-winning goals in St. Cloud State's two wins against Minot State and Michigan Tech. Tarpino has a goal plus a helper and Darby Allen and Cady Compton both have two assists on the season. Strickland has started four of the six games net for Huskies and has very strong numbers with a .86 goals-against average, a .833 save percentage, and two clean sheets.
Last Time Out
The Jimmies and Huskies met in women's soccer for the first time ever last season in Minnesota with Jamestown brand new to Division-II and the NSIC. The Huskies took down UJ 2-0 when Tarpino scored in the sixth minute and Ellie Primerano added a goal in the 24
th minute. Shots in the game were one-sided with overall attempts 27-3 in favor of SCSU and shots on goal 17-2.
