The Teams

The Jimmies will look for their first win of the season in their first NSIC game after they went 0-2-1 in the non-league action. Most recently, the Jimmies were defeated 1-0 by Minot State in a non-conference road game last Friday. The first half was scoreless, but a red card with about one minute left on the first half timer, led the Jimmies to playing down to 10 players for the rest of the game. Minot State scored on a deep free kick in the 65th minute, and Jamestown was unable to recover as they were shutout for the second straight game. Goaltenders Ellie Dake and Taylor Musser made two saves each for the Jimmies.

Senior Breanna Oettle has the only UJ goal of the season during their 1-1 tie with Roosevelt while Bailey Fox notched an assist on that play. Expected starting goalie for UJ will be Ellie Dake who played the entire second half against Minot State, allowing one goal on three shots (.667 save percentage).

Winona State University is also winless at 0-2 after dropping two games to GLIAC schools at home. Their season opener was a 4-1 loss to the University of Wisconsin Parkside, then they fell 3-0 to Purdue University Northwest last Sunday. The Warriors gave up goals on all three of the Lions shots on goal with Winona State only totaling two shots on net in the contest.

The Warriors are coming off a season in which they in the went 7-6-4 with a 6-6-3 record, finishing just outside the NSIC tournament field in ninth place. Winona State was selected to finish ninth again in the NSIC Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll. Nobody has scored yet for the Warriors, with their only goal occurring when Parkside scored against themselves. Abigail Rounds has played the majority of the minutes in net but has some rough numbers with a .462 save percentage and a 3.79 goals-against average. Seven goals against in two games puts the Warriors dead last in the NSIC in goals conceded per game.

Last Time Out

In Jamestown's first year in the conference last season, the home game against Winona State was not pretty. The first half was scoreless, but the second half saw the Warriors scoring four times en route to a 4-0 shutout at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium. The three different scorers, Kyleigh Jannisch, Cora Nothem, and Faith Quinn, are all returners for Winona State in 2026. Shots on goal in the game were 23-2 with UJ getting losing shots on goal 12-0.
