All five participants will get their seasons underway with each team playing four games this weekend.

The Teams
Â
The Jimmies return nearly their entire team from last season which includes eight of the nine players that had at least 70 kills last season. This includes
Addison Brooke and
Corbyn Menz, who logged 183 and 172 kills, respectively.
Ava Bertsch is the leading returning setter with 356 assists (4.45 per set) and
Momoka Minamiya finished fourth in a NSIC in digs per set last year with 4.06 and had 390 digs overall. Senior
Sophie Ketterling supplements Minamiya back in the defensive line to round out an experienced group.
Â
UJ's first opponent, Lake Superior State, is coming off a 1-22 season where they went 1-15 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Lakers do return their top three kills leaders from a season ago with Morgan Deming leading the charge with 141 kills (2.2 per set) in 2025. Deming also finished the season with 58 blocks. Avery Headworth will return after going for 179 assists (3.38 per set) and 10 service aces last season. Most of the top backline players return as well for Lake Superior State, including Gia Waters who logged a team-high 169 digs.
Â
The Chadron State Eagles were 5-21 with a 1-13 record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play during the 2025 season. Mataya Ward will be the key player to watch for the Eagles. The 2025 RMAC Honorable Mention selection was seventh in the conference with 3.15 kills per set, hit .210, and had 26 blocks. Setter Jillian Donovan is coming off a fantastic rookie season where she was fourth in the RMAC with 721 assists (8.29 per set). Finally, Shelby Harding was another impactful freshman for Chadron State with 104 kills, 31 service aces, and 191 digs. The Eagles had the second-most digs and digs per set among the 15 RMAC volleyball teams with 1478 total and 16.8 per set. Â
Â
Minnesota Crookston finished 2025 with a 6-22 overall record going winless in NSIC play. It's a new era for the Golden Eagles with Kathleen Rustad now the head coach and doing a nice job of keeping Crookston's core from last year together. The top five attackers for the Golden Eagles come back in 2026 which include Madison Carsten. Carsten had 343 kills and placed fifth in the NSIC in kills per set with 3.69. Also returning is Carizma Muth who had 242 kills (2.6 per set), 25 aces, and 271 digs. Kassidy Waasdorp lead Crookston with 385 digs and her 5.66 digs per set were second to none in the NSIC. The four top digs leaders from 2025 are back in Northwestern Minnesota on a team that was sixth in the conference in digs per set. Â
Â
The final opponent, South Dakota Mines, will likely be the toughest of the bunch for the Jimmies with the Hardrockers notching a 10-16 record and a 7-7 mark in RMAC play. Outside hitter Lexi Glendenning earned First Team All-RMAC honors in 2025 and was just one of two freshmen to make that list. The outside hitter hit .243 with 292 kills (3.52 per set) to go along with 107 digs and 32 blocks for one of the top blocking teams in the RMAC. Hannah Joseph will return as well with the senior being one of the better setters in the RMAC last season. Joseph registered 651 assists and 192 digs.
Â
Historical Matchups
Â
Jimmie women's volleyball will have their inaugural matchup against both Chadron State and Lake Superior State.
Â
Jamestown played South Dakota Mines quite frequently when the Hardrockers were members of the NAIA and the Dakota Athletic Conference in the early 2000s. Head coach
Jon Hegerle coached against South Dakota Mines 10 times from 2009-12 and owns a 9-1 record over them. The most recent matchup came on November 3, 2012 where the Jimmies downed the Hardrockers in four sets.
Â
Jamestown and Minnesota Crookston met last year in NSIC play where the Jimmies swept the Golden Eagles on the road in what was their first conference win of the season. Sets one and two were tight with both finishing 25-23, but UJ took an early lead in the third set and never looked back in a 25-19 victory.
Ava Mueller and
Addison Ertz each had 11 kills while
Addison Brooke contributed with nine kills and three blocks.
Momoka Minamiya and
Mia Hinsz had 20 digs each.
