The University of Jamestown women's soccer team played its first home match of the 2023 season Wednesday evening at Charlotte & Gordon Hansen Stadium, finishing with a 1-1 draw against No. 19 Hastings (Neb.) College.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The first half ended with neither team scoring a goal.
• Haley Nelson (26^th minute) and Kayla Combs (34^th minute) both had shots sail just high over the crossbar.
• Naomi Pedroza gave Hastings a 1-0 lead in the 49^th minute with an assist by Kailee Lunzer.
• Breanna Oettle tied the game for the Jimmies with her goal in the 62^nd minute, set up by Haley Nelson.
• Thirty-four seconds after Oettle's goal, Sara Pedroza was shown her second yellow card of the match, and the Broncos finished the match with ten players.
• Naomi Pedroza looked to get the go-ahead goal in the 87^th minute but was stopped by UJ keeper Tea Pence.

FOR THE JIMMIES

• Oettle (2) and Kyla Yamada had the Jamestown shots on goal.
• Pence recorded five saves in the match.

• Jackson Pedersen made two saves in goal.
• Hastings outshot UJ 8-6 and had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
