Box Score COLUMBIA, Mo.-- It was a busy day between the sticks for Tea Pence on Friday.
The University of Jamestown goalkeeper stopped a career-high 18 shots in the Jimmies' 2-0 loss at No. 12 Colubmia (Mo.) College. Her previous best was eight saves, which she accomplished twice in 2022.
With the loss, the Jimmies fall to 0-1-1 and will be back in action August 31 against No. 6 Oklahoma City University in a neutral site game at Siloam Springs, Ark.
The Cougars outshot UJ 14-2 in the first half and took five attempts before Sidney Mikes recorded UJ's first shot in the 10th minute. The first half ended scoreless with Columbia putting four shots on target to the Jimmies' one.
Riley Porter's 49th minute goal put Columbia ahead 1-0, and the Cougars continued to dominate possession. Juana Wulff added a goal in the 86th minute to extend the lead to 2-0.
Jamestown's only shot of the half came in the closing moments by Hilary Hernandez. Pence made 14 saves as 16 of Columbia's 17 second-half shots were on target.
