The University of Jamestown and Harold Newman Arena were the hosts for the inaugural NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championships, which concluded Saturday evening.

Thirty-five teams were represented with the Jimmies finishing in 20th place (19 points). Southern Oregon was first with 160 points, with Life (Ga.) second (139.5 points) and Grand View (Iowa) third with 123.5 points.

Josie Bartishofski became UJ's first national championship placer, taking sixth in the 116 pound weight class.

She went 4-3 over the two days, losing by 11-1 tech fall to Avery Ashley of Oklahoma City in the fifth-place match. Bartishofski opened with a 12-1 tech fall over Shae Reisel (Campbellsville), then won by 7-2 decision over Ajayzee Zaballos (Menlo College) to advance to the quarterfinals against eventual national champion Caitlyn Thorne (Central Methodist). Thorne won by 11-4 decision to send Bartishofski into the consolation round. Against Calin Campbell (Grand View), Bartishofski won a 9-6 decision and moved to the fifth place match by winning a 10-0 tech fall over Ashley Gooman (University of Providence).

Three other Jimmies qualified for nationals. Arianna Maruffo went 2-2 in the 123 pound weight class, Allie Baudhuin went 1-2 at 130, and Jenna Gerhardt went 0-2 at 109.

Maruffo was pinned by Larissa Kaz (Hastings) in her first match, but pinned Mami Selemani (William Penn) and defeated Alicia Frank (University of Providence) by 10-0 tech fall. Sophie Smith (Oklahoma City) ended Maruffo's national tournament run with an 11-0 tech fall win.

Baudhuin began with a 14-4 tech fall over Olivia Branson (Baker) and faced eventual champion Lexie Basham (Texas Wesleyan) in her next bout. Basham took a 10-0 tech fall, and Baudhuin was pinned by Destiny Campbell (Iowa Wesleyan).
