HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Kate Cordes opened up the first quarter with a 2-pointer. The Blue Hawks answered with eight points, leaving the Jimmies behind six with 3:15 remaining. In the remaining minutes, the Jimmies scored five points and the Blue Hawks scored six points.
  • The first quarter ending score was 7-14, Blue Hawks leading. Kate Cordes and Audrey Rodakowski were the two scorers in the first quarter. Three points for Rodakowski and four for Cordes. 
  • The Blue Hawks had seven points to the Jimmies two points in the first four minutes, extending their lead to 21-9. The Jimmies were then able to hold off the Blue Hawks and score seven points, lessening the gap to five points (16-21). Kia Tower and Kate Cordes hit 3-pointers back-to-back. Cordes bucket was thanks to steal by Megan Oswald.  
  • The Jimmies trailed 22-23 with 3 minutes left. The Blue Hawks answered with two 3's of their own around the 2-minute mark, which ended their scoring in the second quarter. Hannah Hagel had two points, and Megan Oswald hit a last second shot to end the quarter trailing by three (26-29). 
  • The Jimmies caught up to the Blue Hawks at the 6:17 minute mark of the third quarter (32-32). Jailyn Martinson brought the Jimmies to a lead with a 3-point jumper soon after. Cordes hit back-to-back buckets for four points, extending the Jimmies lead to 39-34. 
  • The Jimmies and Blue Hawks went back and forth with points the remaining 3 minutes of the third quarter. However, Jimmies were able to keep their lead. Busek's pair of free throws ended the third at 51-42. 
  • The Jimmies really pulled away in the fourth quarter scoring 20 points to the Blue Hawks 14 points. Hagel had the hot hand the first five minutes of the fourth with seven points. Tower and Cordes had the remaining 13 points. The game ended 71-56. 

FOR THE JIMMIES

  • Kate Cordes led the Jimmies with 20 points. Tower, Rodakowski, and Hagel also scored in double digits.
  • Rodakowski led rebounds with nine.
  • The Jimmies made 14 of 16 free throws for 87.5%.  

FOR THE BLUE HAWKS

  • Katherine Fox led with 18 points
  • Kyrie Alldredge and Hannah LaBree also scored double digits off the bench.
