MITCHELL, S.D. – Down by 17 points at halftime, the University of Jamestown football team couldn't quite complete a comeback against Dakota Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon, as the Tigers held on for a 34-28 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- DWU led 10-0 after the first quarter, but the Jimmies got on the board early in the second.
- John Grann threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Roebuck, and UJ was within 10-7.
- The Tigers tacked on two more touchdowns before the half, pushing their lead to 24-7.
- Jamestown finished a four-play, 62-yard drive with a 21-yard touchdown pass from Zachariah Hammett to Gage Solano at 12:50 of the third quarter.
- DWU connected on a 28-yard field goal right before the end of the quarter to take a 27-14 lead into the fourth.
- Caleb Ritter recovered a fumble and returned it 51 yards to the DWU 18 yard line, setting up the Jimmies with prime field position.
- On the first play of the drive, Grann threw his second scoring pass of the day, an 18-yarder to Micah Madyun, and UJ pulled within 27-21.
- Jamestown took over at their own 22 yard line with 3:51 to play, and Grann was sacked for a loss of 11 yards on first down. Faced with 4th-and-21, UJ went for the first down but was unsuccessful, giving DWU the ball on downs.
- Jamin Arend rushed 11 yards on the next play for a score to make it 34-21.
- Grann led the Jimmies to the end zone one final time, finding Dawson Schmidt on a 33-yard pass with 1:20 remaining.
- Aanon Peterson attempted an onside kick, but the Tigers recovered and forced UJ to burn its final timeout while running out the clock.
FOR THE JIMMIES
- Grann completed 16 of 37 passes for 284 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.
- Schmidt caught four passes for 117 yards and Madyun had four catches for 57 yards.
- Tyler Dean registered eight total tackles while Ritter, Parker Chaffee, and Ezra Belingheri all finished with seven.
- Belingheri had UJ's only quarterback sack and Hershell Jefferson intercepted his sixth pass of the season, including five in his last three games.
