Jimmies post shutout of Mount Marty

YANKTON, S.D. – The University of Jamestown women's soccer team won for the fourth time in its last five matches with a 2-0 victory over Mount Marty University Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jamestown won its 13th straight match over the Lancers dating back to 2010.
  • UJ has outscored Mount Marty 18-0 in the last four meetings.
  • Rylee Bedard opened the scoring with her third of the season, coming in the 19th minute. It was the second goal in the last three matches for Bedard, who had three goals in 22 matches last season.
  • The Jimmies held Mount Marty without a shot in the first half, and the first Lancer attempt on goal came in the 53rd minute—a penalty kick by Katie Farrell that went wide.
  • Tea Pence made her only save in the 80th minute, turning away a shot by Alessandra Lopez.
  • Breanna Oettle set up Miarosa Gyllenswan in the 89th minute as Jamestown extended their lead to 2-0. It was the fourth of the season for Gyllenswan, who had three career goals in the prior two seasons.

FOR THE JIMMIES

  • Jamestown ended with a 12-2 shot advantage (10-1 on target) and won four corner kicks to Mount Marty's two.
