Twelve top-10 finishes for UJ at Dordt Invite

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa-- The University of Jamestown men's track and field team came away with twelve top ten finishes Thursday at the Dordt Invite.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Chris Sayler (FR/Jamestown, N.D.), Braeden Knutson (SO/Casselton, N.D.), Obed Karege (JR/Amarillo, Texas), and Braedon Gumke (JR/Watford City, N.D.) took second with a time of 44.43 seconds.

Andrew Hornung (SR/Jamestown, N.D.), Noah Mang (JR/West Chester, Ohio), Lorenzo Maldonado (JR/Wasco, Calif.), and Corbin Cornelius (FR/Wahpeton, N.D.) ran 8:51.38 in the 4 x 800 meter relay to take third place.

Jorden Morales (FR/Phoenix, Ariz.) was fourth in the discus with a best throw of 41.22 meters (135 feet, 3 inches). He was also tenth in the shot put with a top mark of 11.80 meters (38 feet, 8 3/4 inches).

Nik Herman (SR/Glasgow, Mont.) had a best throw of 45.50 meters (149 feet, 3 1/2 inches) to take fourth in the javelin.

Gumke was fifth in the pole vault, clearing 3.95 meters (12 feet, 11 1/2 inches).

Sayler came in sixth in the triple jump at 12.22 meters (40 feet, 1 1/4 inches).

Delwin Potter (SR/Battle Mountain, Nev.) was sixth in the hammer throw at 45.57 meters (149 feet, 6 1/4 inches).

Mang was seventh in the 800 with a time of 2:01.50.

Dawson Sedivec (FR/Cummings, N.D.) was eighth in the shot put at 12.52 meters (41 feet, 1 inch).

Knutson was ninth in the 400 hurdles (1:02.11) and 10th in the 400 meter dash (52.16).

Jimmies who set personal bests on Thursday were Cannon DePriest (SO/Salida, Colo.) (shot put, hammer throw), Sebastian Bear (SO/Montpelier, N.D.) (hammer throw), Jacob Juelfs (SR/Medina, N.D.) (800 meters), Aaron Huff (FR/Cleveland, N.D.) (800 meters), Dane Leland (FR/Mayville, N.D.) (shot put, hammer throw), Darien Hauf (SO/Makoti, N.D.) (200 meter dash), Elliot Quillon (FR/McKinney, Texas) (200 meter dash, 400 meter dash), Josiah Rudloff (FR/Aladdin, Wyo.) (long jump), Bryson Tripp (FR/Jamestown, N.D.) (javelin, 400 meter dash), Sayler (triple jump), Potter (hammer throw), Knutson (400 meter dash), Maldonado (800 meters), and Gumke (200 meter dash).

Next up for the Jimmies is the USD Invite in Vermillion, S.D., on April 9-10.
