Sid Grande entered into rest on February 1st, 2016 at the age of 88. He was born on May 31st, 1927 to Sigurd and Irene Grande in Jamestown, North Dakota.

Sid graduated from Jamestown College in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts in Commerce and Physical Education.

While at Jamestown College, he played both baseball and football, and later went on to be the head football coach from 1957 to 1963. In his first year as head coach, the team was undefeated, shutting out 6 of their 7 opponents.

Coach Grande was inducted into the UJ Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983.
