Get to Know Malek ...
Who or what inspired you to start playing basketball growing up?
- I was good friends with the great Coach Don Meyer, and at a young age he started teaching me how to shoot in his driveway.
Do you have any pregame superstitions or routines?
- I usually follow the same stretching routine while listening to music.
Tell us about your favorite basketball moment as a player or fan?
- My favorite basketball moment was hitting my last high school shot at the state tournament, sending the game to overtime, where we eventually won.

What is one talent you have outside the game of basketball?
What do you hope every Jimmie fan says after they see our team play?
- I hope every Jimmie fan says that we play hard and for each other.
Why did you choose UJ, and what do you like about being a Jimmie student-athlete?
- I chose UJ because I really enjoy the close-knit, small community of the school. It's easy to build relationships with others, and the basketball program has always been strong. Our team is also very close-knit, which I really value.
High School
Malek played his high school career at Aberdeen Christian High School. He was a 3-time Conference Champion and a 4-time State qualifier, with an impressive overall record of 85-15 across four years. Wieker set a school record with 89 three-pointers in a single season. Malek was named Co-MVP of the conference twice, earned All-Area Team honors, and was selected to the All-State Tournament Team twice. He capped off his career as a 3-time All-State selection.
Personal
Malek is the son of Greg and Rhonda. He is majoring in business administration.
