Bismarck, N.D. – Ellie Garavaglia finished inside of the top five after round one and
Kacie Rexin was inside the top 10 as the University of Jamestown women's golf team wrapped up Day 1 of the United Printing Marauders Invitational at the Hawktree Golf Club Monday.
The team score for the Jimmies sits at 350 (+62) after the first round of the tournament, placing them right in the middle of the pack at third place out of five teams. UJ has a two-stroke lead over Alexandria Tech and is two strokes behind the current second-place team, the University of Mary.
Ellie Garavaglia paced the Jamestown women's golfers with a score of 84 (+12) to finish the first day with a share of fifth place. The senior from Missouri carded eight pars, eight bogeys, and two double bogeys.
Rexin also finished inside of the top 10 with a score of 85 (+13) in a tie for seventh place. The veteran Jimmie golfer posted eight pars, seven bogeys, and three double bogeys.
Rounding out the two scorers for the Jimmies are
Lyla McCasson with a score of 90 (+18) and
Mylee Michel who had a birdie on 128-yard par-3 hole number three. The freshman Michel finished with a score of 91 (+19). Also competing was
Kyndall Peterson who carded a round of 92 (+20) and
Emma Ketterling as an individual, scoring 96 (+24).
Minot State University controls both the team and individual leaderboard halfway through. The Beavers have an 11-stroke lead for the team title with their score being 337 (+49). Natalie Van Dort and Emily Watts are first and second respectively with their scores at 75 (+3) and 79 (+7) after the first round of the tournament.
The Jimmies will look to make a push for the top as the United Printing Marauder Invitational continues tomorrow, September 29.
