Hudson, Wis. – Three of the five Jimmies improved on Day 2 of the MSU/CSP Fall Brawl as the University of Jamestown women's golf team took 12
th place in their season-opening tournament.
The five competing UJ golfers collectively improved by 10 strokes from the first day of the tournament. The total score for Jamestown across the two days was 700 (+132) at 355 (+71) on Day 1 and 345 (+61) on Day 2.
Kacie Rexin finished in a tie for 34
th, moving up seven places as she improved by seven strokes from 86 (+15) in day one to 79 (+8) in day two for a total score of 165 (+23).
Celi Nelson was the second UJ finisher after carding a round of 88 (+17) on day two to supplement her 83 (+12) in day one. The fifth year finished with a score of 171 (+29).
The other two Jimmie scorers,
Ellie Garavaglia and
Mylee Michel, both improved from the day before. Garavaglia shot two strokes better, 85 (+14) in Day 2, for a total score of 172 (+30) while Michel finished her first college golf tournament with a total score of 192 (+50). The freshman was six strokes better on the second day with a score of 93 (+22) compared to 99 (+28) on the first day.
Lyla McCasson rounded out the participants with a total score of 206 (+64).
Two Concordia St. Paul Bears shared the individual title with Ella Matzke and Addi Wood each shooting 150 (+8) across the two days. These two both improved from day one of the tournament which in large part helped the Bears leapfrog UW Stout and St. Catherine for the team title of 622 (+54). Stout finished in second with 625 (+57).
The Jimmies will next play at the Jewel Invitational at the Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn. from Monday, September 21 to Tuesday, September 22.
