JAMESTOWN, N.D. –
Isaac Hanson delivered a masterful complete-game performance on the mound to lead the University of Jamestown baseball team to a 4-3 victory over St. Cloud State University on Saturday afternoon at Jack Brown Stadium, securing a split of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader.
With the win, the Jimmies improve to 13-30 and 8-22 in the NSIC, while St. Cloud State falls to 19-24 overall and 15-15 in the NSIC.
Game Summary
Jamestown struck quickly, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Mathieu Morin led off with a single up the middle and advanced when
Jett Nelson singled to shortstop.
Trayson Kostial reached on a fielder's choice, setting up
Ben Swennumson, who laced an RBI single to right field to score Morin. After Swennumson stole second,
Ben Patton delivered a clutch two-run single up the middle, bringing home Kostial and Swennumson to cap the early surge.
St. Cloud State battled back to tie the game with a three-run third inning. Wilmis Castro put the Huskies on the board with an RBI single to left field that scored Hayden Frank. Wyatt Tweet followed with an RBI groundout to score Austin Baumhover, and Liam Moreno tied the contest at 3-3 with an RBI double to right field.
The game remained deadlocked until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Jimmies manufactured the go-ahead run without a hit. Moments later, Nelson crossed the plate on a wild pitch to give Jamestown a 4-3 advantage.
From there, Hanson locked down the Huskies' offense. The Jamestown starter pitched all nine innings, scattering eight hits and allowing three earned runs while striking out seven batters without issuing a single walk on 126 pitches.

Game One Summary
Despite a stellar complete-game effort from starter
Payton Hochhalter, the Jimmies were unable to push a run across, while St. Cloud State capitalized on a single miscue to secure the victory.
Hochhalter (1-3) was the hard-luck loser for Jamestown, tossing seven impressive innings. He allowed just three hits and one unearned run while striking out five batters and issuing only one walk.
St. Cloud State's Kahler Key (4-4) matched him pitch-for-pitch, striking out 11 batters and scattering five hits over seven scoreless innings to earn the complete-game shutout.
The game's lone run came in the top of the fourth inning. St. Cloud State's Wilmis Castro reached first base on a throwing error to start the frame, and Max Robinson followed with a single through the right side to advance Castro to second. Two batters later, Castro scored on a passed ball, giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead without recording an RBI in the inning.
Jamestown threatened in several innings but stranded six runners on base throughout the contest.
Ben Swennumson led the Jimmies at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
Jett Nelson provided the game's only extra-base hit with a double down the right-field line in the first inning, while
Dallas Cummins and pinch-hitter
Frankie Malagon each contributed singles.
The Jimmies attempted to mount a late, two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh inning when Malagon singled to right field. Pinch-runner
Caleb Briggeman represented the tying run on first base, but Key induced a game-ending strikeout to preserve the 1-0 victory for St. Cloud State.
