DAVENPORT, Fla. – Nolan McCaffery allowed just three hits in seven innings as the University of Jamestown baseball team cruised to a dominant 11-0 non-conference victory over Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday afternoon at NE Regional Park.
With the win, Jamestown improves its record to 5-13 on the season, while Concordia-St. Paul falls to 6-9.
Game Summary
McCaffery delivered a spectacular performance on the mound for the Jimmies, tossing a complete-game shutout. McCaffery went all seven innings, surrendering only three hits and one walk while striking out seven Golden Bears to keep the opposition off the scoreboard.
The Jimmie offense provided plenty of run support, heavily out-hitting Concordia-St. Paul 14-3 in the contest.
After a scoreless first inning, Jamestown erupted for five runs in the top of the second.
Benney Benitez put the Jimmies on the board with an RBI single through the left side that scored
Jett Nelson. Following a wild pitch that brought
Melvin Maldonado home,
Mathieu Morin ripped a two-run double to right-center, driving in
Dallas Cummins and Benitez.
Adrian Warcken capped the inning's scoring with an RBI single to left field to bring Morin home and make it 5-0.
The Jimmies added four more runs in the third inning. Nelson laid down an RBI bunt single to score
Trayson Kostial. Maldonado then laced a two-run double down the left-field line, scoring Nelson and
Mason Shea. Benitez followed up with his second RBI single of the game, driving in Maldonado to extend the lead to 9-0.
Jamestown tacked on its final two runs in the top of the fifth inning. Warcken singled through the right side to drive in Cummins and Benitez, pushing the lead to the final margin of 11-0.

Pitching Lines
McCaffery went the distance in his first career complete game and shutout, facing just two batters over the minimum. Christian Lindow (2-1) took the loss for Concordia-St. Paul, pitching 1 2/3 innings and allowing five earned runs on six hits. The Golden Bears utilized Liam Bystol, who gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits in 1 1/3 innings.
