SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Jamestown baseball team hit the road on Thursday to face off against #21 Augustana University. The Jimmies (5-15, 1-7 NSIC) struggled to keep pace with the high-powered offense of the Vikings (15-5, 8-0 NSIC), dropping the contests by scores of 9-2 and 21-4 at Ronken Field.
Game One Summary
Augustana got on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Troy Berg singled and stole second, then advanced to third on a balk. Carter Heinsch followed with an RBI single through the right side to give the Vikings an early 1-0 lead.
The Vikings extended their advantage with a pair of runs in the third inning. After Kobe Eikmeier scored on an RBI groundout by Brandon Weigel, Heinsch delivered another RBI single to bring home Cal Schmelzle, making it 3-0.
Augustana continued to apply pressure, adding two runs in the fourth inning on an RBI sacrifice fly by Jake Lundquist and an RBI double down the left-field line by Nate Soelter. The Vikings put the game out of reach with a three-run fifth inning, highlighted by consecutive RBI singles from Soelter and Eikmeier.
Jamestown found some offensive traction late in the game. In the top of the sixth,
Adrian Warcken hit a one-out single and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Jacob Thomas then laced an RBI single up the middle to put the Jimmies on the board.
The Jimmies added one final run in the seventh inning. After
Jett Nelson reached on an error and stole second base,
Matson Hoff walked. Pinch-hitter
Dallas Cummins then stepped up and ripped an RBI double to right field, scoring Nelson.

Luke Zimmer took the loss for Jamestown, pitching 3 1/3 innings and allowing five runs on eight hits.

Mariano Gomez earned the win for Augustana, delivering a stellar performance. Gomez struck out nine batters and allowed just one earned run on six hits over six innings. Myles Hanson pitched the final inning in relief.
Game Two Summary
Augustana's offense was clicking early, capitalizing on a sacrifice fly from Ragan Pinnow to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Vikings added four more runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Brandon Weigel and a two-run double by Troy Berg to make it 5-0.
The offensive surge continued in the bottom of the third. After Cal Schmelzle scored on an RBI single by Carter Heinsch, Jake Lundquist scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 7-0.

Jamestown managed to break through in the top of the fourth inning.
Benney Benitez provided a spark, launching a solo home run to right field to put the Jimmies on the board.
However, the Vikings responded with a massive eight-run bottom of the fourth. Augustana strung together six hits, including a two-run double by Heinsch and a two-run double by pinch-hitter Carter McPeak, stretching their advantage to 14-1.
The Jimmies put together a rally in the top of the sixth inning, scoring three runs.
Melvin Maldonado ripped an RBI single down the right-field line to score
Ben Swennumson. Later in the frame,
Ryder Peace reached on a fielder's choice to bring home
Julian Romero and Maldonado, cutting the deficit to 14-4.
Augustana answered with seven more runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the victory. Nate Soelter highlighted the inning with a two-run triple down the right-field line.
