The Jimmies' offense produced 22 hits across the two games, while the pitching staff surrendered only two runs—both of which were unearned.
Game 1: Jamestown 3, Holy Family 1
The University of Jamestown softball team continued its successful Florida run on Thursday, riding a dominant pitching performance and a late offensive outburst to a 3-1 victory over Holy Family University at the Space Coast Spring Games. The win pushes the Jimmies' overall record to 16-4 as they continue to find ways to win tight contests during their spring break trip.
For much of the afternoon, the Jimmies struggled to solve Holy Family starter Olivia George, who kept the Jamestown bats at bay through the first four innings. Holy Family drew first blood in the top of the fourth when Robin Charlton singled and advanced on an error, driving home Liily Hoban to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
The Jimmies finally broke through in the bottom of the fifth. Amanda Burch ignited the rally with a leadoff single to left field. Following a bunt single by Sonya Rodgers, Trinity Gregg delivered the biggest hit of the game—a two-run triple that scored both Burch and Rodgers. Gregg then heads-up moved home to score an unearned third run on a defensive error by the Holy Family second baseman.
Aubrey Quern was nearly untouchable in the circle, earning her fifth win of the season. Quern tossed 6.0 dominant innings, striking out 10 batters and surrendering just one run on three hits. Abby Blair entered in the seventh, retiring the side in order to secure her second save of the year.
Game 2: Jamestown 15, Salem University 1
The Jimmies closed out a dominant Thursday at the Space Coast Spring Games, utilizing a balanced offensive attack and lockdown pitching to secure a 15-1 run-rule victory over Salem University in five innings. The win improved the Jimmies' record to 17-4 on the season.
The Jimmies wasted no time setting the tone, plating four runs in the opening frame. Maddie Spaeth put Jamestown on the board with an RBI single, followed by a two-RBI single from Kylie Yanzuk. The lead swelled to 9-1 in the second inning as the Jimmies capitalized on three Salem errors and an RBI double from Tori Olson.
The offensive barrage continued in the later innings, highlighted by a solo home run from Jorja Hainsworth to lead off the fifth. Natalie Draper contributed significantly to the rout, finishing the day 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Trinity Gregg remained a constant threat at the top of the lineup, scoring twice and driving in a run.
In the circle, Hope Ransome earned her fifth win of the season with a commanding performance. Ransome allowed just one hit and an unearned run over four innings while striking out three. Maddie Hairgrove threw a perfect fifth inning to seal the victory.
