Jimmies post strong showing at NDSU Open

FARGO, N.D. — The University of Jamestown women's track and field team competed at the NDSU Open on February 6–7 at the Bison Sports Arena, posting strong performances across the sprints, middle distance, distance, and field events.

In the sprints, Saige Gustafson led Jamestown in the 60 meters, clocking a time of 7.99. Sara Sletto followed with a time of 8.41. In the 200 meters, Gustafson posted a time of 26.30, while Sletto ran 27.79. Emily Erhardt also competed in the event, finishing with a time of 29.61.

In the 300 meters, Madalyn Neumann recorded a time of 45.72. Erhardt later paced the Jimmies in the 400 meters with a time of 1:07.49.

The middle-distance events were highlighted by Greta Goven, who led Jamestown in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.75. In the 1,000 meters, Goven posted a time of 3:05.90, while Annabelle LaFary finished in 3:15.54.

In the mile, Hallie Person led the way for Jamestown, running 5:20.94. LaFary followed with a time of 5:28.75, while Kari Patterson crossed the line in 5:34.43.

Jamestown's distance group delivered strong performances in the 3,000 meters, led by Lydia Franson, who posted a winning time of 9:53.37. Allyson Goodmanson finished in at 10:56.23, while Kirsten Vander Kooi recorded a time of 11:03.28.

In the field events, Madalyn Neumann led the high jump group with a clearance of 1.49 meters (4 feet, 10.5 inches). In the pole vault, Quinn Bassingthwaite highlighted the competition for Jamestown by clearing 3.31 meters (10 feet, 10.25 inches).

In the horizontal jumps, Sydney Ulrich recorded a top long jump of 5.02 meters (16 feet, 5.75 inches), while Cambrie Fischer followed with a mark of 4.77 meters (15 feet, 7.75 inches). In the triple jump, Monica Goven led Jamestown with a jump of 10.52 meters (34 feet, 6.25 inches). Ruth Harris followed at 10.33 meters (33 feet), while Meryssa Price posted a mark of 9.96 meters (32 feet, 8.25 inches).

In the throws, Brenna Held led the shot put with a mark of 12.07 meters (39 feet, 7.25 inches). Makenzie Gibson recorded a throw of 10.61 meters (34 feet, 9.75 inches), while Jecelyn Arends followed closely with a mark of 10.60 meters (34 feet, 9.5 inches). In the weight throw, Makenzie Gibson led the Jimmies with a throw of 14.84 meters (48 feet, 8.25 inches). Brenna Held followed with a mark of 14.11 meters (46 feet, 3.5 inches), and Jecelyn Arends finished with a throw of 11.52 meters (37 feet, 9.5 inches).

The Jimmies will look to continue building momentum as the indoor season progresses, returning February 13-14th at the SDSU Open in Brookings, SD.
