Bemidji, Minn. - The University of Jamestown women's soccer team will look to get back to their winning ways as they set their sights on the Bemidji State Beavers in Northern Minnesota Friday.

Game Information

  • 5:00 p.m., Friday, October 23

  • Chet Anderson Stadium; Bemidji, Minn.

The Teams

The Jimmies record sits at 4-7-4 overall as they get ready for a contest in the Minnesota Northwoods. With three games remaining, Jamestown has accumulated 15 points with their 4-5-3 conference record. They are tied for ninth in the NSIC standings and four points outside of a playoff spot.

UJ recently went 0-2-0 on their final home weekend of the season, dropping its two games to Wayne State College and Augustana University, each of those 3-0 losses.

Most recently against Augie last Sunday, the Jimmies conceded in the 20th minute, 50th minute, and 66th minute. The total shots in the game were won 26-8 by the Vikings while shots on goal finished at 11-5. Taylor Musser finished with seven saves.

Julliett Lopez clings to a share of eighth place in the conference with five goals so through 15 games played. Bre Oettle ranks second on the team with seven points (2G, 3A) while Kyah Gabel has posted two goals. Three other Jimmies have three points on the season.

Musser is back after she spent all 90 minutes in net in the Jimmies most recent game against Augustana. The freshman from Idaho has put together a solid season consisting of a 1.82 goals-against average and a .775 save percentage which ranks inside the top eight of the NSIC.

The Beavers come into today's game with a record of 7-3-5 overall with a mark of 6-2-4 in the NSIC, placing them in a tie for fifth in the conference with Minnesota Duluth. Bemidji State has looked sharp as of late with a 3-0-2 record in their last five games.

Last Sunday, Bemidji State took Concordia St. Paul to a 1-1 draw on the road. After the first 72 minutes were scoreless, Molly Burkstrand scored her second goal of the season for the Beavers in the 73rd minute off a pass from Sydney Sutherland. 10 minutes later, the Bears cashed in on a penalty kick to send the game to a 1-1 tie.

Bemidji State lost total shot attempts 16-6 and shots on net 5-4, though they did win corner kicks 6-2. Goaltender Payton Kropp posted four saves on five shots faced.

The past few years, the Beavers have held one of the top soccer programs in the NSIC. In 2025, Bemidji State had a 14-3-4 overall record with an even better 11-1-3 conference mark which tied them with St. Cloud State for second place in the Northern Sun. Despite losing in a shootout to the Huskies in the conference semifinal round, the Beavers earned an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament where they were the No. 2 seed in the Central Region. However, Bemidji State was upset on their home field 1-0 in overtime to Central Missouri in the opening round as their season came to an end. The Beavers were selected to finish this season third in the NSIC Soccer Preseason Poll.

While the team numbers are not quite as strong as last season, the Beavers still have looked very good in 2026 as they are in good position to make the NSIC playoffs. Leading the charge offensively is Madisen Fritel with four goals and two assists while Sutherland is right behind with two goals and three assists for a total of seven points. Megan Ko has six points while Ella Wade ranks inside the top 10 of the conference with four assists.

Bemidji State has had a revolving door in the goalkeeper position with four players making starts in net. Kropp has the most minutes played with seven starts, a 3-1-3 record, and very strong defensive numbers of a 0.86 goals-against average and a .838 save percentage.

Last Time Out

When Jamestown and Bemidji State battled last season, it resulted in a 6-0 blowout at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium. The Beavers scored four times in the first half and then twice more in the second to hand UJ its worse loss of the season in terms of margin of defeat.

The Jimmies lost shots on goal 11-5 with Vega Canada accounting for four of these. Total shot attempts finished at 26-9.
