Jamestown, N.D. - The University of Jamestown women's soccer dropped a 3-0 decision to Augustana University on senior day for their final home game of the 2026 season.
The Jimmies record now sits at 4-7-4 and 4-5-3 in the Northern Sun with three games remaining on the schedule. Augie gets to 8-3-4 overall with a 6-3-3 in-conference record.
Before the game, the Jimmies took time to recognize their senior class in a pre-game ceremony. Bre Oettle, Vega Canada, and Lucia Serrano were all recognized as part of the Jamestown Women's Soccer Class of 2027.
The Vikings had a huge possession advantage to begin the game as they put on four shots in the first 15 minutes although none of these reached the target.
All this work ended up paying off in the 20th minute when Madelyn White scored off a cross from the right edge of the box to make the score 1-0 in favor of the road team.
The Jimmies got into the Augie box a couple of times after falling behind. This included the first shot on goal in the half for the Jimmies, which was Oettle's contested attempt from around 15 yards.
About halfway through the first half, the Vikings looked to have scored again with some nice passing around Jamestown defenders in the box, though after replay review, the play was determined to be offside and the goal was disallowed with the game remaining at 1-0 for now.
The half continued on with Augie mostly keeping the ball in the Jamestown end of the field as UJ did not have another shot on goal in the first half.
It looked like Augustana might get their second goal later in the first half as they had six shots in the final six minutes. This included a look headed for the top right corner of the net with nine seconds remaining, but Taylor Musser got a hand on it to punch it over the net for the big save.
The first half ended with Augie leading shots on goal 5-1 and total looks 15-2. Corner kicks finished 5-1 in favor of the Vikings through the first 45 minutes as well.
Oettle had another chance on her senior day about three minutes into the second half. There was a nice cross by Julliet Lopez from the right sideline to Oettle on the opposite side heading toward the left side of the goal, but an Augie defender broke up the play and kicked it off Oettle for a goal kick.
Just two minutes later, the Vikings pushed up the right sideline with Avery Heinz leading the charge and beating a defender to get around the 6-yard box. Heinz connected with White cutting in from the left side of the field and she placed it bottom left for a 2-0 Augie lead.
Lopez put on the third Jamestown shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the Vikings added another insurance goal in the 66th minute.
Down 3-0, the rest of the game was pretty evenly played with each team generating some chances on the opposing end of the field.
In the 71st minute, Canada had a nice shot attempt from about 20 yards out that Linnea Larson needed to make a diving stop on to preserve the shutout.
Despite two more shots on goal by Canada and Lopez, the Jimmies could not capitalize, despite their much improve number of five shots on goal in comparison to one against Wayne State two days before. Augustana spoiled the Jimmies senior day with a 3-0 victory.
Both Canada and Lopez had two shots on goal while Oettle had two total shots, one which tested Nelson. In between the goalposts, Musser had seven saves.
Total shots in the afternoon finished 26-8 overall and 11-5 on net in favor of the Vikings. Augie had eight chances on corner kicks while Jamestown got one.
The Jimmies have three regular season games remaining with their next contest up in Bemidji where they will face the Beavers on Friday, October 23 at 5 p.m.
