Second-half rally falls short as St. Cloud State edges Jamestown

St. Cloud, MN— The University of Jamestown Men's Basketball team faced a tough road test at Halenbeck Hall, falling 77-70 to the St. Cloud State Huskies. Despite outscoring the Huskies in the second half, the Jimmies could not overcome a first-half deficit in a physical NSIC contest. The result moves Jamestown to 9-10 overall and 7-6 in conference play.

1st Half: Huskies Take Early Control (St. Cloud St. leads 38-32)
Anthony Walters opened the Jimmies' scoring with a jumper at the 19:29 mark to take an early 2-0 lead. Aiden Johnson sparked the perimeter offense, hitting a three-pointer with 16:15 remaining to put Jamestown ahead 9-8. Owen Hektner connected from deep with 12:06 left in the half, bringing the score to 14-18. Zeke Austin provided a spark late in the period, burying a three-pointer at the 1:44 mark to keep the Jimmies within striking distance at 30-36.

2nd Half: Jimmies' Rally Falls Short (St. Cloud St. wins half 39-38)
Owen Hektner ignited the second-half offense, knocking down a three-pointer with 17:00 remaining to trim the deficit to 37-42. Hektner remained lethal from beyond the arc, hitting three consecutive triples between the 12:44 and 8:06 marks to keep the Jimmies competitive. Thomas Diew energized the team with a powerful dunk at the 5:57 mark, bringing the score to 53-64. Davis Walker converted a late layup with 51 seconds remaining to pull Jamestown within six, but St. Cloud State secured the 77-70 victory at the free-throw line.
