SIOUX FALLS, S.D.— Alex Alva went 5-for-5 at the plate to help the Jimmie baseball team to a 12-2 victory and a split of Monday's doubleheader against Mayville State (N.D.) University at Sanford Sports Complex.

GAME ONE
- In the bottom of the first, Chase Burke walked and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Alex Alva. Burke then stole third base and came home on Ryan Muizelaar's sacrifice fly to make it 1-0 Jimmies.
- Mayville State scored single runs in each of the third and fourth innings for a 2-1 lead, which they held until the bottom of the sixth.
- Burke and Alva hit back-to-back singles to give Jamestown runners at first and second with only one out. Muizelaar followed with a single to score Burke and tie the game at 2-2.
- The Comets retook the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh and held on for a 4-2 win.
- Ben Bohlmann (1-1) took the loss after giving up a pair of unearned runs in three innings.
- Alva finished with two of the Jimmies' five hits in the game.
GAME TWO
- The Comets struck for one run in the top of the first, but Jamestown scored three times in the bottom of the second and went on to a 12-2 win.
- Landon Runge drove in the first Jimmie run with a double, then Chase Burke hit an inside-the-park home run, scoring Runge to make it 3-1.
- Runge drew a bases-loaded walk in the third for a 4-1 UJ lead, and the Comets answered with a run in their next trip up to cut the lead to 4-2.
- Varen Sabino drove in a pair of runs with a single in the sixth while Triston Madison and Isaiah Roebuck each had a sacrifice fly to push the Jimmies' advantage to 8-2.
- In the bottom of the eighth, Jamestown scored four runs to end the game via the ten-run rule. Riki Okamoto had a two-run single while Alva and Julian Romero each had RBI hits in the inning.
- The Jimmies stole 10 bases in game two, with Alva and Muizelaar each swiping two.
- Ethan Petty (1-1) worked a scoreless fifth inning to get the win and Kai Mayfield pitched the final three innings to record his first save.
- In addition to Alva's five-hit game, Jamestown had multi-hit games from Burke, Runge, and Muizelaar.
