MADISON, S.D.—The Jimmie baseball team began North Star Athletic Association conference play with a doubleheader against Dakota State University Thursday afternoon. The Trojans took game one by a score of 10-4, then Jamestown earned a split with a 12-5 win in game two.

GAME ONE
- The Trojans scored four times in the bottom of the second to build a 4-0 lead.
- Triston Madison got UJ on the board with a two-out solo home run in the top of the fourth, then Ben Patton homered to lead off the fifth as the Jimmies cut the deficit to 4-2.
- Dakota State had just three hits in the bottom of the fifth, but managed to plate six runs to open up a 10-2 advantage.
- Jordan Singleton started off the sixth inning with a solo home run, and Chase Burke came home on an error in the top of the seventh for the final two Jimmie runs.
- In addition to the three home runs, UJ also got a double from Burke and singles by Alex Alva, Ryan Muizelaar, and Landon Runge.
- Avery Liestman (5-2) lost for just the second time in seven decisions after giving up nine earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.
GAME TWO
- Luke Zimmer (3-3) earned his first win of the spring as the Jimmies took a 12-5 win in game two. Zimmer went six innings, striking out eight while allowing two runs on two hits.
- Alex Alva (first inning), Landon Runge (second), and Ryan Muizelaar (third) all hit solo home runs to help Jamestown get out to a 4-2 lead after four innings.
- Muizelaar reached on an error in the seventh as Chase Burke scored to make it 5-2, then Jordan Singleton homered for a 7-2 lead.
- Later in the inning, Ben Swennumson drove in two more runs with a single to make it 9-2.
- Dakota State got within 9-5 after a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh, but Isaiah Roebuck doubled in two runs in the eighth and Burke homered in the ninth for the final UJ runs.
- Singleton led Jimmie hitters with three hits and three RBI, while Muizelaar scored four times and joined Runge with two hits each.
