HOW IT HAPPENED
- Two scoring possessions from the Trojans gave them a quick 5-0 lead. The Jimmies responded with six straight including, a triple from Will Cordes, the first of the Jimmies 10 on the night.
- Points went back and forth for a while, with neither team gaining a lead of more than three points. A Walters triple followed by four points from Cole Glasgow in the paint gave the Jimmies a 24-18 lead, their largest of the half with nine minutes to go.
- The Trojans put up a fight, inching within just a couple points of the Jimmies, but the Jimmies held their ground and kept their lead to end the first half 46-40.
- The Jimmies reached a double-figure lead seven minutes into the second half with buckets from Jimmy Llinas, Bennion, Cordes, and Glasgow. In the next two minutes, the Trojans outscored the Jimmies to cut that lead in half.
- Hektner responded for the Jimmies with back-to-back threes, one credited to a Bennion assist and another from a Cordes steal to secure an 11-point lead with 9:29 on the clock.
- Despite their hustle, the 11-point deficit with the time remaining kept the Trojans from catching the Jimmies, and the Jimmies tagged on an 86-77 win to their record.
- Hektner led three-point scoring, hitting five of his eight three-point attempts; Llinas led rebounding with eight, and Bennion had a team-high of six assists on the night.
- The Jimmies forced 13 turnovers, which they translated into 22 points.
