Jimmies Battle for Four Sets but Fall to #16 Southwest Minnesota State

Jamestown, N.D – The University of Jamestown Jimmies Women's Volleyball Team lost a four-set battle to #16 Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs Saturday afternoon at the Harold Newman Arena. The Jimmies showed resilience, fighting for a Set 2 victory, but ultimately fell to the Mustangs.

KEY MOMENTS AND MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

• Set 1 (25-15, SMSU WIN): The Mustangs took control early, with a 7-point run extending their lead to 14-8. The Jimmies struggled offensively, hitting 0.097 as the Mustangs won 25-15.

• Set 2 (26-24, UJ WIN): This was the Jimmies' best set, highlighted by a dominant serving game that included 3 aces, helping them tie the set late. They rallied from a 17-13 deficit, fueled by a block from Caroline Puetz and Kyleigh Schopp. It was a back and forth battle for the teams until a kill from Ava Mueller followed by an attack error from the Mustangs secured the 26-24 victory for the Jimmies, tying the match at 1-1.

• Set 3 (25-17, SMSU WIN): The Mustangs regained their momentum, limiting the Jimmies to a 0.147 hitting percentage. Despite 3 total blocks from the Jimmies in the set, the Mustangs controlled the scoring, winning 25-17.

• Set 4 (25-20, SMSU MATCH WIN): The set was close early, tied at 9-9 after an ace from Kyleigh Schopp. However, five hitting errors later in the set hindered the Jimmies' offense, and the Mustangs pulled away for a 25-20 victory to secure the match win (3-1).
