Jimmies Sweep Golden Eagles in Dominant Road Performance for First NSIC Win

Crookston, MN – The University of Jamestown Women's Volleyball team secured its first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) victory of the season on Saturday, sweeping the University of Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles in a three-set match at Lysaker Gymnasium.

Ava Mueller: Also recorded 11 kills, and contributed with 2 total blocks (1 solo, 1 assisted).

Addison Brooke: Was highly efficient, tallying 9 kills on a \bm{.444} hitting percentage, and led the team with 3 total blocks (2 solo, 1 assisted).

Ava Bertsch: Directed the offense with 20 assists and recorded an important service ace in the first set.

Lily Bertsch: Also posted significant setting numbers with 16 assists.

Set 1 (25-23, UJ Win):The Jimmies took an early lead, extending it to 10-7 on a kill by Addison Ertz off an assist from Lily Bertsch. The Golden Eagles rallied to tie the set 11-11 and later took a brief lead 14-13 after an attack error by Ava Mueller.The Jimmies regained momentum by a kill from Addison Brooke (assisted by Ava Bertsch) to take an 18-15 lead. The Golden Eagles fought back to within one point (24-23), but a Golden Eagles service error secured the tight 25-23 Jimmie win.

Set 2 (25-23, UJ Win): The Golden Eagles jumped out to a significant 5-10 lead following a string of attack errors by the Jimmies and kills from the Golden Eagles. Addison Brooke and Ava Mueller led the charge to close the gap. A kill from Brooke (assisted by Ava Bertsch) and back-to-back kills from Mueller (assisted by Ertz and Mueller) helped bring the score to 17-20.The Jimmies tied the set at 21-21 after a kill by Ava Bertsch and a powerful solo block from Addison Brooke 22-12. Caroline Puetz broke a 23-23 tie with a kill (assisted by Ava Mueller), and the set ended on an attack error by the Golden Eagles, giving the Jimmies another 25-23 victory.

Set 3 (25-19, UJ Win): The Jimmies took firm control early, going up 6-1 on back-to-back attack errors by the Golden Eagles and a block by Addison Ertz and Caroline Puetz. The Jimmies maintained a comfortable lead throughout the set. Momoka Minamiya delivered a service ace to extend the advantage to 13-7. The lead grew to eight points at 19-13 after a service ace by Ava Mueller. Ava Mueller closed out the match with a kill off an assist from Ava Bertsch, clinching the final set 25-19 and completing the 3-0 sweep.
