ELLENDALE, N.D. – The University of Jamestown men's soccer team showcased overwhelming offensive power and defensive solidity on Thursday afternoon, securing a decisive 15-0 victory over Trinity Bible College.
The Jimmies (2-7) controlled the game from start to finish, pouring in five goals in the first half before exploding for ten more in the second.
Jake Simson was the catalyst for the Jimmie attack, tying the UJ single-game record with five goals and while assisting on three others. He netted Jamestown's opening goal just 3:36 into the game, assisted by Will Tubaro, and completed a first-half hat-trick with a successful penalty kick in the seventh minute and another goal in the 39th minute. His prolific day was capped with two more scores in the second half, including another penalty kick in the 70th minute.
Jamestown's attack was incredibly widespread, with seven different players finding the back of the net. Kaiden Blanchard recorded a hat-trick of his own, scoring three goals (58th, 79th, and 87th). Gael Castro added two goals, including a penalty kick in the 56th minute. Will Tubaro (41st), Nathan Kopecky (27th), Clayton Kepler (46th), Kael Calder (62nd), and Mats Buelters (66th) each had one goal.
Buelters added a pair of assists to his goal, and while Calder and Kepler each contributed an assist.
The Jimmies' domination was evident in the final statistics. Jamestown outshot the Lions 30-3, with 29 of the Jimmies' shots finding the target.
Three keepers shared in the clean sheet. Starter Connor Warren played 30 minutes, recording one save, before Adam Kinnarath and Liam Horner took over, each adding one save to secure the 90-minute shutout.
UJ returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 18, taking on Morningside (Iowa) in Sioux City, Iowa, at 3:30 p.m.
