SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The University of Jamestown men's soccer team held Morningside scoreless through the opening 45 minutes, but the Mustangs struck for four second-half goals as the Jimmies fell 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Jamestown put together a disciplined first half defensively, limiting Morningside's attacking opportunities and earning multiple early corner kicks. Goalkeeper Dawid Chrobot played the full 90 minutes and finished with four saves, keeping the match level through halftime. In the first half, Morningside's Jordan Bickel had a shot saved by Chrobot. Jamestown's Kael Calder had an early header blocked, while a shot by Joseph Bird was saved by Morningside keeper Timon Koerber.
Morningside broke through in the 65th minute on a goal from Lucas De Souza, assisted by Maris Rombeck, followed shortly after by a finish from Ramdane Sadmi in the 69th minute, assisted by Bennet Buchwald. Javier Ruchelli added two late goals in the 80th and 86th minutes to close out the scoring. Ruchelli's final goal was assisted by Guilherme Mota. Jack Greenwood was credited with a defensive save on a shot by Sadmi.
Jamestown recorded eight total shots. Shot attempts came from Felipe Costa, Elias Werner, Joseph Bird, and Bennet Driesch. The Jimmies generated three shots on goal and consistently found opportunities in the attacking third throughout the match
