JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The University of Jamestown volleyball team returned to Harold Newman Arena on Friday night but fell in three sets to Winona State University. Set scores were 25-19, 25-17, and 25-14.
The Jimmies (9-13, 4-11 NSIC) struggled to keep pace with an efficient Winona State (13-10, 8-7 NSIC) offense. The visiting Warriors hit .287 as a team, committing only nine attack errors, while the Jimmies were held to a .144 hitting percentage with 21 errors.
The difference in the match came at the net and the service line. Winona State recorded eight total blocks to Jamestown's one and held a 9-2 advantage in service aces.
Addison Brooke led the Jimmie offense with nine kills. Ava Mueller, Mya Foslien, and Kyleigh Schopp each contributed six kills. Lily Bertsch paced the offense with 19 assists, and Ava Bertsch added 11.
Defensively, Mia Hinsz and Momoka Minamiya led the back row with 10 digs apiece. Sophie Ketterling was close behind with nine digs.
Winona State was led by Kenna Kornely, who finished with a match-high 12 kills.
The Jimmies are back in action Saturday afternoon when they host No. 9 Concordia-St. Paul at 3 p.m.
