WAYNE, NE. – The University of Jamestown women's soccer team closed out its weekend road trip with a 4–2 loss to Wayne State on Sunday afternoon at the WSC Soccer Complex.
Wayne State struck first in the 15th minute as Paige Pemberton finished off a pass from Reagan Allen to give the Wildcats the early edge. Jamestown goalkeeper Skylar Lind came up with multiple first-half saves to keep the deficit at one heading into the break, as the Jimmies held off sustained pressure while producing key counterattacking looks through Vega Canada and Kuhela Ledward.
The Wildcats capitalized quickly after halftime, scoring twice in under a minute, first through Alaina Sorensen in the 52nd minute, followed shortly after by Allen to make it 3–0. Rachel Davis added a fourth for Wayne State in the 62nd minute despite continued defensive efforts from Kennedy Hansen and Marisa Brown.
Jamestown responded late with an impressive individual surge from Canada, who scored back-to-back goals in the 83rd and 90th minutes — the second coming just before the final horn, bringing energy and momentum to the closing stretch. Isabella Martinez recorded the assist on the first of Canada's goals.
Despite the late push, the Jimmies ran out of time as Wayne State held on for the win. Jamestown now returns home with positive attacking momentum after Canada's brace and looks ahead to its next conference matchup.
Jamestown returns home next weekend to host Minnesota Duluth on October 31, which will also serve as the Jimmies Senior Weekend and Senior Night celebration
