Jimmies Win Thrilling Four-Set Road Match Against UMary

Bismarck, ND – The University of Jamestown Jimmies Women's Volleyball Team secured a hard-fought road victory over the University of Mary Marauders on Saturday afternoon at the McDowell Activity Center. After dropping a tight opening set, the Jimmies responded with an impressive offensive showing and earning their fourth NSIC win of the season.

TOP PERFORMERS 

The Jimmies offense was highly productive, tallying 55 kills, while the serving game was dominant, accumulating 11 total service aces.

Kyleigh Schopp (#21): Led the Jimmies in kills and efficiency, putting down 16 kills on a phenomenal .696 hitting percentage. She also contributed 6 assisted blocks, leading the team with 19.0 points.

Corbyn Menz (#11): Recorded 11 kills and added 2 service aces.

Ava Mueller (#15): Contributed 10 kills. 

Caroline Puetz (#7): Was highly efficient with 8 kills on a .400 hitting percentage, adding 4 assisted blocks.

Lily Bertsch (#13): Led the team in service aces with 3 and distributed 28 assists.

Ava Bertsch (#14): Matched Lily's output with 3 service aces and added 21 assists.

Momoka Minamiya (#16): Led the defensive effort with a team-high 22 digs and contributed 3 service aces.

Mia Hinsz (#8): Anchored the back row with 14 digs.

KEY MOMENTS AND MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

• Set 1: (24-26, UMary Win): The set was tightly contested with 10 ties. The Jimmies had a slight advantage in kills (16 to 13). The Jimmies were able to grow to their largest lead of the set by a 6-0 run highlighted by three kills by Ava Mueller assisted by Ava Bertsch. The Marauders rallied back to tie the set 22-22 and  consecutive service aces from UMary's Dani Highum closed out the extra points for the 26-24 win.

• Set 2: (25-17, UJ Win): The Jimmies responded fiercely, hitting .310 and allowing UMary only 17 points. Multiple blocks by Kyleigh Schopp and Caroline Puetz established an early lead, and a service ace from Lily Bertsch kept the momentum rolling.The Jimmies scored the last five points of the match with kills from Kyleigh Schoop, Caroline Puetz and Corbyn Menz to win the set 25-17. 

• Set 3: (28-26, UJ Win): This was the most dramatic set of the match, featuring 12 ties and four lead changes. Multiple attack errors forced by the Jimmies' defense late in the set gave the Jimmies the edge at 27-26. Caroline Puetz then delivered the decisive kill to secure the marathon 28-26 victory for the Jimmies.

• Set 4: (25-18 UJ Match Win): Building on the momentum from the Set 3 win, the Jimmies dominated the final set. Ava Bertsch delivered back-to-back service aces, pushing the lead to 20-12. Kyleigh Schopp secured the final point of the match with her 16th kill, sealing the 25-18 set victory and the 3-1 match win.
