Jimmies Bounce Back at Home, Defeat Minot State in Four Sets

Jamestown, ND – The University of Jamestown Women's Volleyball team secured a crucial four-set victory over the Minot State Beavers on Thursday night at the Harold Newman Arena. After dropping the first set, the Jimmies dominated the rest of the match, displaying phenomenal efficiency to earn their third NSIC win of the season.

TOP PERFORMERS

Addison Brooke (#20): Led the offense in efficiency, smashing 11 kills on a remarkable .625 hitting percentage with just one error. She also contributed 2 total blocks (1 solo, 1 assisted).

Ava Mueller (#15): Led the team in total kills with 12. 

Mya Foslien (#4): Was highly effective in her hitting, contributing 9 kills and added 3 assisted blocks.

Caroline Puetz (#7): Recorded 8 kills on a strong .316 hitting percentage and led the blocking effort with 3 total blocks (1 solo, 2 assisted).

Kyleigh Schopp (#21): Maintained efficiency with 8 kills on a .400 hitting percentage, and added 4 assisted blocks.

Ava Bertsch (#14): Directed the offense with a team-high 24 assists and secured 3 crucial service aces.

Lily Bertsch (#13): Contributed 18 assists and delivered 1 service ace.

Momoka Minamiya (#16): Anchored the back row, leading the Jimmies with 23 digs.

KEY MOMENTS AND MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

• Set 1: (21-25, Beavers Win): The Jimmies and the Beavers were in a tight match but a 3-0 run by the Beavers out them ahead 13-9. The Jimmies battled and a crucial kill by Ava Mueller assisted by Lily Bertsch tied the game 18-18. The Jimmies outkilled Minot State 15-12 but struggled with errors late. Kills from Mya Foslien and Addison Brooke were not enough, as the Beavers used a .353 hitting percentage to take the early lead.

• Set 2: (25-12, UJ Win): The Jimmies stormed back with a nearly perfect offensive set, recording 17 kills with zero errors for a phenomenal .447 hitting percentage. A dump kill by Ava Bertsch ignited an 8-0 run for the Jimmies which included service aces from Ava Bertsch and key kills from Ava Mueller. A block by Mya Foslien and Addison Brooke secured the final point, tying the match 1-1.

• Set 3:(25-16, UJ Win): The Jimmies carried the momentum into the third set jumping out to a 7-3 lead. A kill from Corbyn Menz and a solo block from Addison Brooke widened the gap. The Jimmies defense continued to pressure the Beavers, leading the Jimmies to a convincing 25-16 win.

• Set 4:(25-18, UJ Match Win): The Jimmies stayed on fire jumping out to a 1-14 lead. Despite a lower hitting percentage, the Jimmies' defense tightened up, as they forced 13 Beaver attack errors. A kill from Corbyn Menz had the Jimmies at their highest lead of the match 9-22. The Beavers however rallied back for a 7-0 run. A crucial kill by Gracie Adamson pushed the Jimmies' lead, and a final kill from Ava Mueller sealed the 25-18 victory to complete the 3-1 match win.
